Physiotherapy supervised rehabilitation remains the mainstay of treatment for most sports injuries and musculoskeletal injuries.

Physiotherapy techniques and sports medicine treatments have changed dramatically over the years. It is essential that you see a Chartered Physiotherapist who is using up to date treatments. The physiotherapist will take into consideration your lifestyle, leisure activities, sport and general health before designing an individual rehabilitation programme specifically for you.

Most treatments will involve a combination of manual therapy and exercises. The goals of physiotherapy treatment are to:

  • Improve/resolve your pain
  • Restore function
  • Return you to your sport/activity/job as quickly but as safely as possible
  • Help prevent recurrence of the injury

Why Ulster Sports Medicine Clinic

At the Ulster Sports Medicine Clinic, many of the patients I see are referred to me by physiotherapists. The referral can be for a number of reasons – for a second opinion, for further investigations or for an intervention such as a joint injection.

Following a detailed assessment I liaise closely with the referring physio to plan the best way forward to help resolve your condition.

If you are not already attending a physiotherapist but require one, I have close links to experienced physiotherapists who I can refer you to.
