Sports & Exercise Medicine

I developed an interest in Sport & Exercise Medicine when I qualified in 1997. I attended regular British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM) meetings in Northern Ireland and went on to become Secretary then Chairman of BASEM NI, where I was responsible for organising regular Sport & Exercise Medicine educational meetings.

I was awarded a Diploma in Sport & Exercise Medicine from the Intercollegiate Academic Board of Sport & Exercise Medicine in 2001. I became a Fellow of the Sport & Exercise Medicine Faculty, Ireland in 2003 going on to become a Board Member of the Faculty in 2007, Secretary from 2008 – 2010 and Treasurer from 2010 – 2011.

I gained entry onto the Specialist Register for Sport & Exercise Medicine (Ire) in 2010. I have been running private Sports Medicine Clinics since 2001. The clinic was re-branded in 2011 as The Ulster Sports Medicine Clinic. I also work part-time as GPwSi in Orthopaedics for the Southern Health & Social Care Trust and part-time GP Partner, Bannview Medical Practice, Portadown Health Centre.
